Ikea Hack Dressing Table

Ive been at it again!! I really cant stop myself ♥ My new dressing table actually started life as a fairly large Ikea black desk, I particularly liked this project 1. Because the desk was a freebie which was offered on a social media site and being the quick clicker I am, I managed to be the first one to comment 2. I got to use my Pink Paint again from Rust-oleum(pink champagne) and lastly 3. I finally have my own spot to pamper myself should I have the energy or time to.

I know you guys love a before and after, so here is what my dressing table looked like originally

My bedroom is located in the loft and a little tight on space, so it made complete sense to me to just saw it in half, this meant taking the whole thing apart(being Ikea furniture this wasn’t too difficult) in total I cut off 30cm of the depth of the desk top, I also popped out the lock and keys attached to the little drawers and sprayed them gold, when that was done it was all pieced  back together, to make a cleaner finish to the edge I cut, I tacked a basic wooden trim to it, lastly I applied wood filler where the trim met the surface. Here’s during

When the filler was dry I got to sanding to smooth out any wrinkles, then it was just painting and clear wax, I managed to get the whole thing done within a day. I now Love my freebie dressing table! Of course I needed a chair,

I fell hook and line for my Mauricette birch and pink fabric chair from Maisons du Monde its fabulous and I wish id bought it sooner ♥ The gold pedestal mirror was from The Executive Shaving Company it is 2 sided with one side having 10 x magnification, super handy! The round boho Cushion was off Ebay

Im calling this stage 1, as I have another Ikea hack in the making regarding three sets of drawers, plus lots of other projects destined for our bedroom, I will keep you lovely lot updated on progress, thanks for popping by

See you soon

Kelly♥
